New COVID-19 Rules in England from Monday 14th Sept 2020
New social-distancing rules came into effect on Monday 14 Sept. This is how they may affect you if you want to come to Buon Apps as a group.
We've pulled this information together from Government resources. We hope it helps.
The Rule of Six
The new government rule of six:
Limits on the number of people you can see socially have changed. From Monday 14 September, you must not meet in a group of more than 6, indoors or outdoors, when meeting people you do not live with.
From 14 September - when the new rules apply - it is against the law to meet people you do not live with in a group larger than 6 (unless you are meeting as a household or support bubble). The police have the powers to enforce these legal limits, including to issue fines (fixed penalty notice) of £100, doubling for further breaches up to a maximum of £3,200.
Exceptions
There will be exceptions where groups can be larger than 6 people, including:
- where everyone lives together, or
- is in the same support bubble, or
- to continue existing arrangements where children do not live in the same household as both their parents.
The new law replaces existing guidance on no more than two households meeting indoors, meaning that the six individuals can be from up to six households.
The new rule of six has replaced that rule, so now you can technically go for dinner with five friends from different households, while abiding by social distancing rules.
What is a Support Bubble?
A support bubble is a close support network between a household with only one adult in the home (known as a single-adult household) and one other household of any size. This is called making a ‘support bubble’.
Once you’re in a support bubble, you can think of yourself as being in a single household with people from the other household. It means you can have close contact with that household as if they were members of your own household. Once you make a support bubble, you should not change who is in your bubble.
Continue to follow social distancing guidance with people outside of your household or support bubble. This is critical to keeping you, your family and friends as safe as possible.
Who can make a support bubble?
If you’re in a single-adult household you can form a support bubble with another household of any size that is not part of a support bubble with anyone else if you:
- live by yourself – even if carers visit you to provide support
- are a single parent living with children who were under 18 on 12 June 2020
If you live with other adults, including if your carer or carers live with you:
- you can form a support bubble with one single-adult household who are not part of a support bubble with anyone else.
- if you share custody of your child with someone you do not live with
- if you’re a single-adult household, you can form a support bubble with another household other than the one that includes your child’s other parent.
- if you’re not a single adult household, you can form a support bubble with a single-adult household other than the one that includes your child’s other parent.
